Light Gauge and Wood Framing Civil Engineer (New York)

Job Description

This position is for a remote Civil engineer with experience in Light gauge and wood framing structures or related field (Residential or light commercial NOT industrial) with experience in modeling and doing take off for it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret specialized shop/construction drawings and engineering plans.
  • Design and detail light gauge and wood framing systems.
  • Modeling of light gauge and wood framing structures.
  • Take off of materials and quantities.
  • Management of formats given by the client.

Technical knowledge & skills required

  • Understanding of light gauge and wood framing structures.
  • Knowledge in modeling software, such as Revit, SketchUp, etc.
  • Google Suite: Google Drive, Corporate Gmail, Docs, Sheets.
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel.

Soft skills required

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work demands.

Desirable knowledge & skills

  • Experience in engineering projects carried out in the US.
  • Knowledge in structural analysis software, such as RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.
  • Familiarity with U.S codes.
  • Knowledge in take off software, such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, etc.
